Homefusty vicissitudes and curlicues of MP3Apr 22, 2008

This rather odd site which does not necessarily dwell on MP3 music captures everybody's love of excellence in music (I hope) and a veritable host of other non-musical diversions related (or not) to academic pursuits, arcane (or simply dusty) vagaries and very earnest but most likely misguided contemporary concerns, fused with panache and style. In not-so many words, it's just an odd site.

Odd as it may seem, it is the oddly endearing kind of strange that may weird you out a little, but you put up with it for one reason or another. It is a repository of ongoing research, a forum for learned (and not so learned) minutiae, a treasure trove of (possibly) worthless intellectual trinkets and a whole bunch of other unclassified stuff. I wanted it to cater to the discerning, those who value style in all elements of their life. Unfortunately, this site's title proved less effective in gaining the attention of that specific type of audience and has rather been a favorite of all chika-loving folks who are all too busy spreading vicious untruths about decent, hard working, celebs behind the anonymity of a computer and a screen name.

If you could only sift through the traffic of this page, you'd be surprised if they even searched the word MP3 at all, so I just abandoned the whole idea of blogging solely about Mp3.

We all engage in an array of activities, including solving crossword puzzles, running ultra marathons, music, sex, and for some: engaging in sadomasochistic gossiping. The explanation for why some people pursue these activities, and why some of us find some measure of fulfillment and satisfaction in it, can be found deep inside the brain. I used to think that we want pleasure and happiness, and now I don't think that is the case at all. Happiness and pleasure are passive emotions, and you don't have to do much to achieve those feelings. I think of satisfaction in terms of a much more active component. Nature never said you had to be happy. It said you had to learn to adapt to the world. Satisfaction is one of a number of positive emotions such as joy, love and happiness. And I find it very frustrating that some people cope with their frustrations and disappointments in life by destroying the people they (consciously or subconsciously) aspire to be.

Personally, there's no such thing as a celebrity scandal because we expect entertainment to be a scandal of its own genre and typological construct. We'd be a little disappointed if we found out Showbiz weren't. But do we really have to discuss the gross and vulgar like some critical Discourse on Humanities? Or go the great length of re-inventing it altogether--well-invented chika, so delightful the audience will be dumb with wonderment!--But where's true creativity there? What's inspiring in that? How does that help anyone of us achieve a more complete and fulfilling personal life? Might as well write a spectacular movie script, at least the latter gets an Emmy nomination and sumptuous box-office buffets.

While it’s realistic to expect some material written in this site to contain profound and articulate ruminations about the human condition and the inconsequential details of my life, inflicting all the nitty-gritty almost-biographical particulars of my so-called life upon an unsuspecting public must surely be considered some sort of grossly irresponsible human rights violation. Hence, there is nothing too-personal in this site.

I believe we all are creative, analytical, resourceful and innovative. Some may not have discovered that in themselves yet but nonetheless all of us are capable of being one. And I have always believed in empowering people...in creation and not destruction...in human evolution and not degradation...with quality and not regression. I believe this can enrich our lives and transform the world.

I never blame people for their experiences or blame others for my own sufferings. But I do encourage people to take responsibility for their actions and failures. Blame and responsibility are not synonymous. The second option is constructive while the first is destructive and an utter waste of time and effort. Instead, I do encourage people to take control of their life and begin to walk in the direction of progress. Begin to focus your attention on how to change inside and improve your life. It doesn't do us any good to blame...BLAME is Endless. People blame society...they blame everyone else for all manner of discontent, situations and circumstances that they are in. That to me is BULOK (gross cheap mentality). The idea is to take control of your life and aim to become better. Emulate the good, ignore the unhelpful.

For those who wish to pursue taste in all things. We have a phrase for it "vivere con gusto" -- live life with taste.
